NEVER MISS AN ADVENTURE

24 HOURS IN....

VANCOUVER

Vancouver is a city that boasts many natural jewels. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, fringed by the clear waters of the Pacific and home to the famous Stanley Park. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in the city for 24 hours your feet won’t touch the sidewalk.

A PERFECT BEACH

When the weather is kind then locals go to the beach. With nine to choose from it means that you’re always just a stroll or short drive away. Each beach has its own personality and reason for visiting. Kitsilano is popular with families. There is an outdoor swimming pool metres from the beach and a restaurant and bar for refreshments.

For somewhere quieter and further away from the downtown crowds, then try the usually serene Jericho Beach, which is surrounded by multi-million-pound houses and apartments. Jericho Sailing Centre welcomes non-members on the Gallery Patio & Grill. On a fine warm day, if you eat on the deck overlooking the bay, you’ll be treated to a great view while you chew.

If you find yourself in the luscious Stanley Park, then make sure you while away an hour or two on the secluded Third Beach, It’s on the park’s southern coast, and features a sandy beach and beautiful views at sunset.

A PLACE TO LAY SLEEP

A large chain hotel or a small independent boutique, wherever you choose to lay your head in Canada’s most attractive city, you won’t be disappointed.

The Opus Hotel is a particular favourite, nestling in the hip downtown district of Yaletown, it’s where the cool people go. It was voted Conde Nast Traveler - Readers Choice Awards #1 in Downtown Vancouver Hotels 2017 and they weren’t wrong. The hotel has 93 rooms, is dog friendly and is surrounded by the city's best restaurants and lounges and is just two blocks away from the very appealing False Creek waterfront.

Whatever you do in Vancouver it will definitely be memorable.

WHERE TO EAT

When you start to explore where to eat, you’ll realise that 24-hours in Vancouver really isn’t long enough. The city’s eateries will find something to satisfy even the most-fussy of diners.  Just a short stroll from the Opus Hotel is the gorgeous, Wild Tale, established in 2015, it is a haven for seafood fans. The restaurant celebrates, the coastal regions of the world through fresh fish and favourites from farm and field.  The tone of the restaurant is polished yet relaxed. Ensuring that everyone feels at home.

For lunch on the go, then it’s off to Granville Island Public Market. The smells, sights and sounds are a great accompaniment to whatever you choose to buy from the vast array of stalls selling tasty locally sourced and produced treats.

SHOP LIKE A LOCAL

Obviously, it would be rude not to pick up a few new outfits or

accessories for your home whilst in Vancouver. If you’re looking for yoga, Pilates or just general active wear, the city is home to Lululemon. The brand of leisurewear that 80 percent of Vancouverites live in and is now dominating the fitness world in the UK. Making it definitely worth a visit.

The city has all the usual North American chain shops you’d expect to see alongside an ocean of exciting independent brands. Located in the heart of historic Gastown, John Fluevog Shoes has been serving the people of Vancouver since the ‘70s. This impressive flagship store is situated in an all glass greenhouse-esque building and is where you can pick up some quirky and conversation starting shoes.

For homewear then cross over Lionsgate Bridge to West Vancouver and step into At Home, a lovely warm and welcoming shop that is ideal for purchasing candles and table wear to impressive your friends back home.
